Tools for Transformation #10: The Mayan Calendar and the Mayans – Masters of Time and the Evolution of Consciousness

by Scott Mowry

INTRODUCTION
Here we are. Standing on the cusp of the end of the epic year of 2012. For quite some time now, the Mayan calendar has become one of the most compelling, while at the same time, perhaps one of the most frightening subjects on the minds of many people in the world as we reach the prophetic date of December 21, 2012 –– the so-called end of the Mayan calendar.

There remains a great deal of misinformation and misinterpretation of what the Mayan calendar and the Mayan's own prophecies have really told us. And, we most assuredly have seen a lot more misinformation arise as the end of the Mayan calendar looms where it seems an all out war has intensified for humanity's hearts and minds.

But let's make one point perfectly clear from the very outset of this discussion: the Mayan calendar does not tell us that the world is going to end in an apocalyptic orgy of doom and destruction. It never has and it never will.

Nor have any of the Mayan prophecies ever predicted such a scenario occurring for planet Earth at any time. Period!

Yet, you would never know there exists a great deal of positive possibilities thanks to movies like the dreadful, "2012" or "The Day After Tomorrow"; television programs like the disappointing, "2012: Startling Secrets," (on the SyFy Channel); the gloomy prophecies of Nostradamus in the Middle Ages (found on the History Channel and in countless books); and many, many other resources often cited.

There has been plenty of disinformation to be found for sure. Clearly, an enormous amount of effort has been made to whip up as much fear and hysteria as possible about what exactly is in store for humanity at this most critical time in our history. It appears someone or something, simply does want you to harbor any hope for the future.

You can be certain, the powers that be who wish to remain in power despite the fact all odds are now stacked against them, have done their level best to instill as much fear, apprehension and confusion about the Mayan calendar and the rumored end of the world. Make no mistake about, the root of all of these fear-based scenarios traces directly back to the same old, New World Order elite sources.

Does the Mayan calendar tell us that we are coming to the end of the world as we know it? Or, is it signaling that a whole new paradigm is about to unfold humanity's future?

Ironically, the answer on both counts may be a resounding "yes", as we shall soon see.

The bottom line is we must realize we are multi-dimensional, spiritually empowered beings who have the innate ability to create the world we truly believe in. Our thoughts, feelings, attitudes, beliefs and words have the power to create the experiences we ultimately live –– good or bad, positive or negative.

Thus we can say the consciousness shift, or the New Earth, or the Golden Age scenarios are entirely available for those who truly believe in them. As are the apocalyptic/end-of-the-world sequence of events too. It ultimately really depends on what YOU truly want to believe in. Both are waiting to unfold and the choice lies with you and you alone.

Most of us are destined to experience an exceptionally positive, Golden Age future. But some will insist on fulfilling a dark, doomsday prophecy of their own making on another version of their own Earth. Again, it all comes down to what we truly believe in. Those who believe in a positive path for themselves will have that particular experience, those who see a negative will have that particular experience.

Thus, the whole hype that surrounds the Mayan calendar is based on a great deal misconceptions which have clouded some of the most important aspects the Mayan prophecies have to offer to the world. So, at the very least, let's try to address some of those misconceptions.

–– 1) First of all, what is important to understand is there is not just one single Mayan calendar, but rather, over different ones that have been discovered thus far, some of which were used for more than just to measure time.

Therefore, when you hear mention of the Mayan calendar you have to ask: exactly which Mayan calendar are they referring to?

Many of the Mayan's sacred writings and documents were either destroyed or outright stolen by the invading armies of the Spanish conquistadors under orders from the Catholic Church, so it is very difficult to determine what is really known and what has simply gone missing.

It is very clear the Vatican specifically targeted the Mayans for destruction despite the fact the history books tell us the New World of North, Central and South America had yet to be discovered.

Without a doubt, what is causing the most consternation at this time in history is the Mayan Long Count Calendar which plots time over a 5,125.36 year time frame. The Long Count Calendar is divided into 394 year cycles, or 144,000 days, which the Mayans called "Baktuns". All told there are 13 Baktuns and we are currently sitting in the 13th Baktun. The Mayans believed there are five great ages and we have arrived in the final one.

The Long Count Calendar actually ends on December 20 or 21, 2012 where we will emerge from the 12th Baktun into the 13th Baktun. The Baktuns add up to 26,000 which is the known as the Precession of the Equinox.

The Precession of the Equinox is about the movement of the Earth and our solar system around the center of the universe back to the point at which we began –– 26, 000 years ago. And now we have arrived all the way back to where we started.

Another familiar Mayan calendar is the Civil calendar, which the Mayans called the Haab (or Ha'yab) calendar (pictured below), also known as the Solar calendar. The Haab is a more traditional calendar in that it measures the flow of time in days, months and years. Just as our modern calendars of today, the Haab consists of 365 1/4 days.

For the Mayans, the Haab was basically a bookkeeping calendar and was used primarily for the collection of taxes.

The other more acknowledged Mayan calendar is called the Tzolk'in (pronounced Zol keen), also known as the Sacred, Personal, or Astrological calendar. Tzolk'in in the Mayan language means "count of days" and this calendar was 260 days long. it was used to plot out astrological projections or personal uses such as plotting out agricultural planting and seasonal cycles.

The Tzolk'in calendar consists of what is known as thirteen "intentions" on the part of creation, and twenty different "aspects", which combined make up the 260 days in length –– 13 x 20 = 260.

The Mayan Tzolk'in calendar

These two calendars were often by the Mayans in conjunction with one another as represented in the photo above.

The Mayans also created additional calendars for other uses such as commerce, birth cycles and much much more. As crazy as it may sound, the ancient Mayans were better at measuring and understanding the flow of time than we are today, despite our so-called advanced technologies. They knew more about time than the watch wrapped around your wrist or the calendar hanging on your wall.

All told, the many Mayan system of calendars offer some of the best opportunities to expand your own consciousness, simply by studying and following them.

In fact, these calendars were designed for that very purpose by the Mayan elders for the people who lived with their calendar systems over 5,000 years ago.

Aztec Sun Calendar in National Museum of Anthropology & History in Mexico City, Mexico

–– 2) Many people often mistakenly believe the official, one and only Mayan calendar is the Aztec Sun Calendar, currently on display at the National Museum of Anthropology and History located within Chapultepec Park, Mexico City –– it is not. Although similar to some of the Mayan calendars, most notably the Tzolk'in, the Aztec Sun calendar is different.

–– 3) For the most part, the Mayans themselves have remained silent and have presented very little official pronouncements to the world of what they see as unfolding over the next few years. At least on an official basis.

Rather, they have left that job to their ancient elders and to the many relics, calendars and codices left behind. In addition, the Mayans have sat by and allowed a dedicated group of mostly non-Mayan researchers to deliver the news of an absolutely glorious future awaiting humanity.

Others have simply taken it upon themselves to speak for the Mayans in ways which are not in the true spirit with the Mayan ancestors.

–– 4) It would seem that of all of the twenty different Mayan calendars, there appears to be one which is particularly noteworthy of all. This calendar is known as the Tun calendar, or the Divine calendar or the Prophetic calendar, and does not seem to get a lot of attention when there is a discussion of the Mayan calendar.

The Tun calendar is noteworthy because its sole purpose was to measure the phenomenon known as –– expanding human consciousness. Ultimately, this unfolding paradigm will result in dimensional shift for the whole of the Earth, although exactly when it will occur still remains a great, unsolved mystery.

The Tun calendar is the source by which the Mayans were able to generate many of their prophecies. Just as the Haab calendar, it is 360 days long. It is basically the structure of the Mayan calendar.

The Tun calendar was unearthed in the late 1940's lying face down in the tropics floor and had suffered badly from weathering, erosion and jungle rot. Fortunately, the archeologists who discovered it, immediately made a charcoal etching of it. The Tun calendar may have first begun some 2, 500 years ago.

It was eventually decoded by Swedish microbiologist, Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, who may have made the most important of all discoveries in relation to the Mayans and their calendars.

Dr. Calleman found that the Tun calendar was not designed solely to measure the flow of time, but more particularly, the flow of evolution, or consciousness as in relation to the flow of time. He was able crack the mysterious codes of the Tun calendar and determined it begins as far back as 16.4 billion years ago, when the universe was formed at the moment of what are scientists refer to as "the Big Bang Theory". (See our Carl Calleman section for more information.)

The Tun calendar was able to foretell of nine distinct levels of evolutionary consciousness in which the planet Earth will move through. For each level of consciousness or creation, there are 13 sublevels which represent the seven days and six nights, as found in the book of Genesis. These sublevels represent periods of light, or day, and six periods of dark or night. Each day represents an introduction of new consciousness and the night is the application of that new consciousness.

With pinpoint accuracy, the Tun very neatly follows the historical evolution of the Earth, from the very first cellular life, to the arrival of mammals, to the appearance of humans on the planet, and all the way to the point in history we find ourselves today –– on the precipice of a whole new way of being for humanity.

However, the Tun calendar has already concluded on the date of October 28, 2011, and not the commonly held dates of December 12 or December 21, 2012, the beginning of the Winter Solstice.

In fact, the Mayans have publicly distanced themselves from the 2012 date to such a degree they see it no more or less relevant than other dates in the year 2012.

Dr. Calleman began publishing his findings in a serious of books beginning in 2000 with "Solving the Greatest Mystery of Our Time: The Mayan Calendar." He followed that up in 2004 with, "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness."

His most recent book is "The Purposeful Universe: How Quantum Theory and Mayan Cosmology Explain the Origin and Evolution of Life", was released in 2009 and he has a new book due out very soon.

“The Mayan Calendar is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era.” Dr. Calleman writes in his breakthrough book, "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness".

One of the best interpreters of Dr. Calleman's work is the late Ian Xel Lungold, who was able to crystallize his research into the Tun calendar and present it in a series of videos, entitled, "The Mayan Calendar: Welcome to the Evolution - Parts 1 & 2"; "The Mayan Calendar Comes North - Parts 1 & 2"; and "The Mayan Calendar: The Evolution Continues - Parts 1 & 2". Unfortunately, Ian Lungold passed away in 2006 but his legacy lives on at the MayanMajix.com website.

So in summation, when the Mayans say time ends, essentially they are referring to the end of time as we have come to know it, or more specifically, our reliance on time as a concept. The Mayans refer to it as "the time of no time" or "zero time", which means a rebirth.

Essentially, we are moving or evolving out of our need for time as we connect with the Divine, the Universe and all of creation to become the timeless beings we have always been.

THE MAYAN PROPHECIES
Although the Mayans have not officially spoken about their prophecies it appears that is beginning to change. Led by a collective of Mayan elders, they have begun to speak to the world with a series of messages.

Over the last several years, the official head of the Mayan elders, Grandfather Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, also known as Don Alejandro or "Wandering Wolf" (Wakatel Utiw in the Mayan language), has been speaking out on a regular basis to deliver the great hope of the Mayan messages.

Don Alejandro has stated publicly, the Mayan ancestors came from the magical and mystical land of Atlantis when their continent sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic ocean some 15,000 years ago during the last great flood of the Earth.

Many of the Atlantean priests took what they could of their great texts and teachings, then first fled into underground caves within Earth, only to emerge later in the Yucatan area of Mexico. While others of their race headed east and eventually settled in what would become Egypt to form the great Egyptian civilizations some 7,000 years ago.

The Atlantis connection is what accounts for the striking similarity between the Egyptian and Mayan pyramid structures found on two distant continents.

It should be noted the history books regarding the Egyptian and Mayan cultures simply cannot be trusted as their has been a deliberate campaign to misinform the general public of the great significance of these amazing people.

According to author, speaker and researcher, Drunvalo Melchizedek, who has spent years interacting with the indigenous peoples all over the world including the Mayan elders, he has also been authorized to speak on the Mayans behalf by Grandfather Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, aka Don Alejandro.

Drunvalo Melchizedek has established close ties to the Mayan council of elders and with Don Alejandro specifically. He presented a webcast entitled, "The Maya of Eternal Time: 2012 and Beyond", which premiered to a world-wide audience on July 29, 2009. He followed with another video in 2010 entitled, "The Birth of a New Humanity" in which he further spoke about the Mayan prophecies and continues to speak about the Mayans.

Drunvalo opened his "The Maya of Eternal Time" webcast by stating Don Alejandro had given him permission to speak on behalf of the Mayans. He further reported the Mayans have begun the process of remembering their past and as they prepare to share it all with the world.

To view the entire "The Maya of Eternal Time" video visit our Screening Room section.

The Mayans official coming out party is now available in the form of a new documentary film entitled, "The Shift of the Ages" which has been over six years in production. "The Shift of the Ages" is a fantastic tale documenting the life of Grandfather Don Alejandro and the struggles of his Mayan people, who have been abused by not only the Vatican and the Spanish Conquistadors who conquered them, but by their own Guatemalan government, as well.

The story of Don Alejandro and the Mayan history is both heart wrenching and heartwarming, as they ultimately emerge triumphant to become respected and recognized, now by their own government for the great wisdom they possess they are now offering to the world.

The bottom line is: the most important Mayan calendar of all, the one really worth paying attention to, the Tun calendar, is not concerned with the movement of time or objects in space. Rather it is all about the evolution of consciousness.

And from that perspective, the Mayan calendar points to grand new existence for humanity and it is coming very soon. In fact, the process is well underway and is about to reach its pinnacle.

The Mayan Long Count calendar also tells us an old, outmoded paradigm is ending or dying, simply to make way for an even better one to take its place. The plan is to awaken humanity from a long and deep slumber, and we have come a very, very long way and now we are here.

We have done it. We have made it.

As Ian Lungold speaks so eloquently in one of his video presentations, "it's no coincidence, we are on a Divine schedule and it is provable by the historic record (and) the paleontological record".

Don't buy into the twisted and distorted interpretations of the Mayan calendar. The Divine plan is working to perfection and humanity is now headlong into the Golden Age and the best is yet to come!
