Part 1: Ho'oponopono Overview

“Clean, erase, erase and find your own Shangri-La. Where? Within yourself.” – Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, Kahuna Lapa’au

The late, Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona (1913-1992) was the original founder of The Foundation of I which is the non-profit organization that presents the Self I-Dentity Through Ho'oponopono courses to a world-wide audience. Self I-Dentity essentially is a more modernized version of Ho'oponopono, from the ancient traditional methods that required a mediator between two conflicting parties. This updated version was presented to the world by Morrnah Simeona in 1976.

With Self I-Dentity through Ho'oponopono, Morrnah refined the method so that all of the cleaning and healing processes could be done on one's own, in a self help type methodology, without the need for a mediator at all.

Morrnah taught the Self I-Dentity Ho'oponopono course throughout the 1980's and into the early 1990's before eventually handing off the torch to Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, who began conducting Ho'oponopono courses in 1982. Dr. Hew Len worked with Morrnah for ten years, until her passing on February 11, 1992.

Morrnah Simeona was a Hawaiian "kahuna la'au lapa'au" or healing priest and practitioner of lomilomi massage best known for teaching her updated version of Ho'oponopono.

"Kahuna" is a Hawaiian word, defined in the "Hawaiian Dictionary" by Mary Kawena Pukui & Samuel H. Elbert (1986), as a "priest, sorcerer, magician, wizard, minister, expert in any profession."

Her mother, Lilia, was one of the last kahuna la'au kahea or priest who healed with words. Morrnah was named a "Living Treasure of Hawai'i" by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai'i in 1983. That same year she presented programs on Ho'oponopono to the United Nations in New York City. (Chai:53)

Born on May 19, 1913, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Kimokeo and Lilia Simeona, both native Hawaiians, Morrnah was recognized as a kahuna at the tender age three. Although raised in the Catholic school system, she was strongly influenced by her Christian education and her philosophical studies of India, China and Edgar Cayce, which helped her to formulate the Self I-Dentity through Ho'oponopono process.

The combination of Hawaiian traditions, praying to the Divine Creator, and connecting problems with Reincarnation and Karma resulted in a unique new problem solving process, that was self-help rather than the traditional Hawaiian group process. She had no qualms about adapting traditional concepts to contemporary applications, though she was criticized by some Hawaiian purists. "Her system uses ho'oponopono techniques to create a working partnership among the three parts of the mind or self, which she calls by Hawaiian names, as well as by the terms subconscious, conscious and superconscious."

She presented trainings and lectures on ho'oponopono to the United Nations, in nearly a dozen states in the U.S., and in more than 14 countries, among them Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Russia and Japan. She presented to schools of higher learning, such as the University of Hawai'i and John Hopkins University, to medical facilities, religious institutions and business organizations. In 1982 she organized the First World Symposium of Identity of Man. A reporter noted: "There was something very calming and soothing about Simeona's presence and her voice, a sense of serenity about her, as she talks about teaching people how to relieve stress and attain peace of mind."

During his Ho'oponopono weekend classes, as well as on the three Zero Limits seminars recordings, Dr. Hew Len regularly recounts his experiences working and interacting with Morrnah.

In the book, "Zero Limits," he writes of his first experiences of attending Morrnah's classes on three separate occasions, before he became convinced that this was an area of a spiritual practice he wanted to embrace.

There are other nearly mythical stories about Morrnah Simeona's great gifts of insight and healing as a sacred kahuna that can be found floating about on remote areas of the internet.

By all accounts, Morrnah Simeona was an extraordinary teacher, healer, kahuna and woman, and the world is a better place for the great gifts she has bestowed upon it.

Humbly, humbly I (we) ask you (all) for forgiveness for all my (our) errors, resentments, guilts, hatred, hurts, trauma or pain, offenses, blocks, etc., which I (we) have created and accumulated from the beginning to the present. PLEASE FORGIVE ME!

(Response) YES, _________________, I (WE) FORGIVE YOU!

LET THIS WATER CLEANSE, PURIFY AND RELEASE ME (US), offender and offended FROM SPIRITUAL, MENTAL, MATERIAL, FINANCIAL, AND KARMIC BONDAGE. (Note: The use of actual water is not necessary. A symbolic sprinkling gesture made with the hand will be sufficient to suggest water.)

Pull out from our Memory Bank or Computer ALL THE UNWANTED, NEGATIVE MEMORIES AND BLOCKS that attach, knot, tie, and bind us together.

SEVER, DETACH, UNTIE, AND RELEASE these unwanted memories and blocks.

Transmute These Unwanted Energies to “Pure Light”!

Fill the spaces these energies occupied with Divine Light.

Let “Divine Order,” Light, Love, Peace, Balance, Understanding, Joy, Wisdom and Abundance be made manifest for us through the Divine Power of the Divine Father, Creator of all life, Mother, Son as ONE, in whom we abide, rest, and have our being... NOW AND FOREVER MORE. AMEN.
