Michael Jackson is in the record books, not only for being the most successful popular recording artist in the history of music, but also for raising and giving the most money to charities around the world.
Much of the philanthropic work he heroically did, was overshadowed by the tabloid headlines he never seemed to be able to escape. Yet, despite the controversies, Michael Jackson will ultimately be remembered for his acts of giving from the heart, both financially and personally.
"Heal the World" is one of his most beautiful and heartfelt songs from his ironically titled hit album, "Bad."
Michael Jackson, RIP 2009. May God Bless You.
MICHAEL JACKSON – "Heal the World" (Words and music by Michael Jackson)
There's a place in
Your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could
Be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need
To cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways
To get there
If you care enough
For the living
Make a little space
Make a better place...
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
If you want to know why
There's a love that
Cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares for
Joyful giving
If we try
We shall see
In this bliss
We cannot feel
Fear or dread
We stop existing and
Start living
Then it feels that always
Loves enough for
Us growing
So make a better world
Make a better world...
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
And the dream we were
Conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we
Once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep
Strangling life
Wound this earth
Crucify its soul
Though its plain to see
This world is heavenly
Be gods glow
We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart
I feel you are all
My brothers
Create a world with
No fear
Together we cry
Happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords
Into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough
For the living
Make a little space
To make a better place...
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
You and for me
(Repeat 10 times)
THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM
One of the most popular and moving Broadway shows of all time is "Man of La Mancha." The movie version starred Peter O'Toole and perhaps the musical highlight of both stage and screen versions was "The Impossible Dream," composed by Mitch Leigh, with words by Joe Darion from 1965.
The stirring lyrics are what make this song so special and so revered. It is as inspirational and impassioned as any show tune ever written and performed on the bright lights of Broadway, bar none!
Elvis Presley also does a moving gospel-style rendition of this song and it has been covered by countless other musical performers throughout the years. And with good reason.
Just try to listen to this song and not feel it in your heart! It is impossible.
THEME FROM "MAN OF LA MANCHA" – "The Impossible Dream"
(Words by Joe Darion / music by Mitch Leigh)
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
