"My Sweet Lord" is an unabashed love song to the Divine. It was George Harrison's first major hit as a solo artist and was clearly influenced by his indoctrination to Eastern religions during his many sojourns to India.
He later developed close ties to India through his friendship with Ravi Shankar, who helped popularize sitar music. In fact, George Harrison was instrumental in bringing in the whole eastern spiritual philosophy to the Sixties generation, by recording music with Indian musicians, even while in the Beatles.
All in all, you would have to conclude that George Harrison was a giant figure in expanding consciousness in both pop music and pop culture. He is sorely missed. God Bless George Harrison. RIP.

The lyrics to "Higher Love" read like an impassioned prayer to the Divine. Singer and songwriter, Steve Winwood, pleads to be shown a higher state of love, much more than what he has experienced thus far in his life.
He asks the listener to join him in his determined quest. By the end of the song, though he does not find the higher love, he remains committed to continue his search through an ever more chaotic world.
