“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr., preacher, spiritual leader
Reggae star and pioneer, Bob Marley, was a true force to be reckoned with for raising consciousness on the planet. Although he died in 1980, his music lives on and continues to touch millions of people around the world. (See "Playing for Change | One Love" below).
He penned some of the most uplifting music of the 1970's that continues to resonate powerfully, particularly throughout the Third World, as well as, Europe and America.
He was also deeply spiritual and "One Love" is one of his finest songs ever. It embodies the ideals of oneness and unity and spirit in a sweet, poetic fashion.
One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right. Wo wo-wo wo-wo!
Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?
One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!
Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.
Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
"Playing for Change" is both a documentary film project/DVD and musical CD. It is a brilliant multi-culture, multi-ethnic message of hope, peace and love by filmmaker, Mark Johnson.
He traveled the world and filmed a wide range of musicians performing the song, "One Love" by Bob Marley and mixed their contributions into one delicious concoction. Other songs such as "Stand By Me," "Don't Worry, Be Happy," and "War" were also added on to the production.

Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, may be more infamous for his comments after 9/11 than famous for his harmonious music like "Peace Train." Despite the controversy he attracted, he has composed some beautiful and spiritual music that highlights many aspects of unconditional love and peace.
"Peace Train" may be his most uplifting and inspiring song he ever recorded and perhaps his most appropriate for these times humanity finds itself in. It certainly offers a wonderful message of hope.
